The basic idea of Atkins diet

Atkins diet is base on the idea of cutting down the carbohydrates, carbohydrates like fruit, vegetables, milk, bread, rice, potatoes, pastries and pasta are not allowed according to the Atkins plan. The user can eat high fat food like fish, chicken, meat, mayonnaise, butter, eggs, cheese and cream.

When you cut down the carbohydrates your will be forced to burn the stored fats to get the energy needed, this is the process where the weight loss begins.

The Atkins diet phases are the Cutting down carbohydrates, ongoing Weight Loss, Pre-Maintenance and Lifetime Maintenance phase.

In the "Cutting down carbohydrates" phase you should stop the carbohydrates food for 2 weeks, in the 2nd phase "ongoing weight loss"
you can increase the intake of carbohydrates by five grams/day, in the 3rd phase the "Pre-Maintenance" you can increase the carbs intake by 10g/day to slowdown the process of weight loss, in the 4th phase "Lifetime Maintenance" you will stick with the amount of 90g carbs/day and for the rest of your life.
